Programa dedicado a uno de los más fértiles e importantes períodos de la historia de la música pop y el rock en particular. De 1977, año de la explosión punk, hasta 1982, los años del post punk y la new wave. Escucharemos material de Inglaterra y Estados Unidos (Nueva York y Los Angeles), y algo de Canadá, de bandas olvidadas y otras no tanto. Un sonido muy vigente.

Homenaje póstumo al extraordinario bajista Mick Karn, fallecido prematuramente a los 52 años el pasado 4 de enero, tras una infructuosa batalla contra el cancer.

Nacido en Chipre como Andonis Michaelides en 1958, su familia se radicó en Londres cuando él tenía 3 años. En el colegio conoce a Richard Barbieri, Rob Dean y los hermanos David y Steve Batt (a la postre reconvertidos en David Sylvian y Steve Jansen). Los cinco forman la agrupación Japan, una banda que se movió entre el glam rock, el tecno pop, el funk blanco y las tendencias neo románticas. Sin duda, fue un grupo que vivio entre 1977-82 en medio de lo que pasaba y al mismo tiempo al margen. Cinco discos en estudio y uno en vivo fueron el testimonio que dejaron, entre ellos el fabuloso Tin Drum. A partir de 1982 comenzaria su carrera como solista que arrojó estupendos discos como Titles, Dream of Reason Produce Monsters, BEstial Cluster, Tooth Mother, Each Eye a Path, etc; y tambien sus constantes colaboraciones (Midge Ure, Peter Murphy, Michael White, David Torn, Terry Bozzio, Yoshihiro Hanno y en especial con sus compañeros Jansen y Barbieri, con los que formó la disquera Medium Productions)

Karn fue un bajista excepcional, con un sonido personal con el que exploró la música étnica, el ambient, el prog y las formas mas sofisticadas de la música pop. Pero tambien fue un gran ejecutante del clarinete.

Haremos un recorrido por 32 años de historia, empezando por la primera etapa de Japan en 1978 hasta llegar a su último disco como solista The Concrete Twin de 2009.
