El 1 de enero de este año nos sorprendió la noticia de la muerte de Lhasa de Sela, una fabulosa cantante a la que habiamos seguido desde que editó aquel sorprendente disco llamado La llorona (1997), cantado enteramente en español. Hija de un profesor mexicano y de una fotografa estadounidense Lhasa viajó por Norteamerica durante varios años. A los 19 se radicó en Montreal. Luego del exito de su primer disco se fue a Francia para trabajar en el circo de sus hermanas. Vivió unos años en Marsella hasta que regresó a Canadá en el 2002 para retomar su carrera musical. Su producción discográfica no fue prolífica, con discos espaciados cada seis años pero cada uno con un gran peso específico. En The Living Road (2003) introdujo el inglés y el frances. Y el último, Lhasa (2009), grabado ya cuando el cancer de seno la había atacado, cantado todo en inglés. Tres discos emotivos, melancólicos, en los que dejó plasmada su capacidad para estremecer. Su expresiva voz la llevó a colaborar con Jerome Miniere, Stuart Staples y Tindersticks, Franck Monnet, Vincent Delerm, Patrick Watson, Arthur H y otros cantautores.
“He venido al desierto para reírme de tu amor. Que el desierto es más tierno y la espina besa mejor. He venido a este centro de la nada para gritar”, cantaba Lhasa de Sela en “El Desierto”.

Parece mentira que hace poco estábamos con el tema del Y2K, el paso de un milenio a otro que hizo
que las inversiones en informática y adecuación de los relojes de los equipos se multiplicaron exponencialmente. El mundo  no queria pasar de 1999 a 1900. De eso han pasado 10 años. La llamada década del milenio termina en un  mes, momento adecuado para revisar lo ocurrió en música. Una década en la que los formatos de consumo  cambiaron, las ventas de CDs descendieron drásticamente y el uso de internet como medio de difusión se consolidó.

Esta semana realizaremos el primer recorrido por esta primera década del siglo 21. Dos tercios de la historía de Acto de Fe. Nos centraremos en los primeros años: 2000, 2001 y 2002.

30 años a algunos les parece mucho tiempo, a otros no tanto. Lo que si es cierto es que buena parte de lo que hoy dia pasa en el panorama pop está ligado con lo ocurrido en el fértil período post punk británico, ese que va de 1978 a 1981 y que engloba diversas propuestas. En el Acto de Fe de esta semana escucharemos una serie de bandas que redimensionaron la escena de entonces y que en mayor o menor grado han servido de influencia a muchas que vinieron después. EL abanico irá desde bandas mas conocidas como XTC, Ultravox (en sus dos etapas, con John Foxx y luego Midge Ure), Joy Division o Bauhaus (aunque con piezas no tan obvias) a otras más subterráneas como Five or Six, Cabaret Voltaire (en sus inicios), The Monochrome Set, Liquid Liquid, Young Marble Giants y unas cuantas más.

Programa dedicado a Wilco y su líder, Jeff Tweedy. Sin duda alguna, Wilco es una de las más interesantes bandas surgidas de Estados Unidos en los años 90, cuya ascendente carrera parece por ahora no tener techo. Inicialmente enmarcada dentro del folk/country rock, poco a poco fueron incluyendo influencias de la psicodelia, del poprock melódico, del avant rock y otras corrientes. Siempre liderados por el guitarrista/cantante y compositor de casi todos los temas, Jeff Tweedy, quien es un personaje que a lo largo de toda su vida a luchado con fuertes migrañas.  Escucharemos material de todos los discos de Wilco, colaboraciones de la banda con Billy Bragg y The Minus 5, de Tweedy con Golden Smog y Loose Fur, y de la banda anterior Uncle Tupelo.
