Programa dedicado a la etapa clásica del Blues Rock (1964-1973), unos años en los que el blues funcionó como fuente primaria de inspiración para muchos jóvenes inmersos en el todavía inverbe rock. Una nutrida cantida de grupos de la Primera Invasión Británica fueron la punta de lanza, gracias a una desprejuiciada reinterpretación del espíritu del blues cargada de nuevas ideas y mucha energía. Tambien en Estados Unidos, cuna del blues, las nuevas generaciones bebieron de esa esencia. La empatía entre los códigos musicales del blues y el rock permeó a grupos y artistas de todo el mundo, incluyendo Latinoamérica.

El quinteto británico Radiohead es quizás la más desafiante banda del planeta, una condición que acaba de consolidar con la edición de In Rainbows (2007). No se trata sólo de la vanguardista forma de abordar la música, sino también de una visionaria y arriesgada visión del negocio de la música que ha puesto a la industria discográfica de cabeza. Cuando “Creep”, una de las canciones de su primer disco Pablo Honey (1993), cargada de ansiedad y angustia, se convirtió en un himno generacional muchos creyeron que Radiohead sería un banda de un solo éxito. Pero, el segundo trabajo, The Bends (1995), se encargó de demostrar que la carrera hacia el olimpo apenas comenzaba. De “Creep” a In Rainbows (2007), hay un mundo de cambios, retos, sorpresas, imaginación, grandes canciones y mucha libertad creativa. Hace casi once años se editó Ok Computer (1997), una de las obras capitales de la historia de la música pop. Ed O´Brian (guitarra, coros), Johnny Greenwood (guitarra), Colin Greenwood (bajo), Phil Selway (bateria) y Thom Yorke (voz principal, guitarra, teclados) podrían haber optado por repetir la exitosa fórmula, pero en cambio decidieron apostar por el riesgo con Kid A (2000) y Amnesiac (2001). El pasado 10 de octubre ocurrió un fenómeno que influenciará a muchos artistas. Ese dia Radiohead ofreció su nuevo material a través de su página en internet, sin intermediarios de ningún tipo y al precio que cada persona decidiera. En apenas unas horas tras el anuncio se desató una gran ansiedad entre los fans, tras cuatro años de espera. Antes, las manifestaciones de histeria ocurrían en los aeropuertos, calles, teatros y discotiendas, ahora el canal para la la locura colectiva son los cientos de webs alrededor del mundo. Radiohead se adelantaba a propiciar lo que seguro iba a pasar, decenas de blogs y comunidades virtuales compartiendo el disco. Como era previsible, el site recibió millones de visitas en unos pocos días. Además de la descarga, Radiohead puso a la venta un tentador discbox a un costo de 40 libras fabricado a pedido, un precio que muchos han pagado con gusto por un set que además del disco oficial, incluye un segundo CD con más canciones nuevas, dos LPs y folletos, con una cuidada presentación. Más allá de la polémica y consideraciones extra-musicales, In Rainbows es un soberbio trabajo lleno de guiños a su pasado y la mirada puesta en el horizonte, lo cual queda patente en canciones como “15 Step”, “Bodysnatchers”, “Videotape”, “Nude” o “All I Need”. Muchos ejecutivos discográficos se retuercen en sus butacas, sin entender todavía que las formas de consumo musical han variado sustancialmente en los últimos años y que ahora la verdadera ganancia ya no está en la venta de discos. Ahora los músicos y aficionados comienzan a poner las reglas y a recibir los beneficios de forma más directa. En ese sentido Radiohead ya había experimentado en las pasadas giras formas de mercadeo distintas a las tradicionales con una red de páginas webs administradas por sus fanáticos que funcionó como efecto multiplicador. Radiohead escribe la historia.
